  1. How does Companion Cruising work?
    Companion Cruising is a unique online cruise travel agency, specialising in cruise bookings for solo travellers. If you are a solo traveller interested in a more affordable cruise holiday option then Companion Cruising is a great place to start. Simply submit your details and cruise preferences through our home page, and once we have received your details, we will endeavour to find another same gender solo traveller who is similar in age and is looking for a cruise holiday in the same destination as you! Once a match is found you will be contacted and various cruise options will be discussed until we can find a suitable cruise option for both companions and you each only pay the twin share rate. Companion Cruising will handle and manage your cruise booking from here. We not only provide a service for solo cruise travellers, we can also provide quotes for anyone wishing to take a cruise vacation. We deal with all major cruise lines and are able to deliver timely and competitive cruise quotes.
  2. Once I make an online submission what happens to my details?
    After submitting an online request to find a cruise companion, your personal details will be kept confidential and secure. Once we believe we have found an ideal cruise companion for you, we will be in contact with details relating to the companion. If at this point you would like to proceed, we will further discuss the suitable cruise options with both companions. Your personal details will not be released without your permission. If you wish to be in contact with your cruise companion, a $50AUD per person fee applies. Provided the cruise booking is made through Companion Cruising, this fee will come off the final balance of your cruise. 
  3. What is the guarantee of finding a cruise companion and what if one cannot be found?
    Unfortunately, we are not able to offer any guarantee that a companion match will be found. At Companion Cruising we do our best to find a suitable cruise companion for you. If a suitable match cannot be found we can continue to keep your details in the likelihood that a suitable match arises. We will also contact you to discuss options so that you don't miss out on taking your ideal cruise holiday.
  4. If I don't need to be matched with a companion, can I still book my cruise through Companion Cruising?
    Absolutely! Send through your details or make an enquiry and we will be happy to provide you with a competitive cruise quote and manage your cruise booking.
  5. Will I need to be a member of Companion Cruising to send through my details or request a quote?
    Not at all! There is no membership program at Companion Cruising. Anyone is able to make an online submission and/or request a cruise quote.
  6. How can I be sure I am getting the best possible deal?
    At Companion Cruising we work with all major cruise lines and are therefore able to provide you with a timely quote and access the best available cruise prices direct from the source. If you have received a cruise quote elsewhere that is less than what we have quoted you, please provide us with details and we will happily see if we are able to price match.
  7. Can Companion Cruising book my flights and accommodation?
    Companion Cruising is predominately a cruise-only booking service, however we can package your cruise holiday through our travel partners, Cruise1st. 
  8. What's included in the cruise fare?
    What's included in the cruise fare will depend on the cruise line. In most cases your cruise fare includes; accommodation, main meals, entertainment and use of most of the ships facilities.
  9. Are there any other costs involved?
    Often taxes, fuel supplements and gratuities are additional to the cruise fare. In most cases these will be included on your invoice. Please make sure to check or enquire if you are unsure whether taxes and gratuities are included. There are also optional extras that can be purchased on board your cruise including shore excursions, drinks, food from the alternative dining venues, bar snacks, room service, hairdressing, massage and beauty treatments, and photographic services.
  10. Do I need a passport and Visa?
    Passports, visas and vaccinations are your responsibility. Requirements are often outlined in the cruise lines documentation. Without the necessary passport, visa and/or vaccinations, local authorities may deny you boarding, prevent you from going ashore, issue a fine or deny the ship entry into the port. As a general rule, for all International cruises (cruises that visit a foreign port), passports are required for all passengers and must be valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the date of the cruise return.     Many countries require cruise-ship passengers to arrange visas before departing Australia. Visa requirements also vary according to the nationality of the guest and are regularly changing. An extremely useful resource to learn more about your visa requirements is the Visalink website -
  11. How can I pay for my cruise?
    Once your cruise booking has been confirmed you will be sent an invoice for your payment of deposit and due date for final payment. Companion Cruising accepts payment by Visa or Mastercard (2% charge), and electronic funds transfer.  
  12. How can I trust Companion Cruising with my booking?
    Companion Cruising is 100% Australian owned and operated, is a licensed travel agency and a member of CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association). Companion Cruising operates in line with Australia's strict licensing requirements and provides a secure, and confidential cruise booking service.
  13. When will I expect to receive documentation?
    Documentation will be posted to you as soon as it is received from the cruise line. The time in which we receive documentation from the cruise line often varies between cruise lines; however as a general rule it is usually approximately 4 weeks prior to travel. Often cruise lines will issue e-tickets. In this case we will be able to issue you with documentation as soon as final payment is received and we have received all passport details, dates of birth and any other required information.
  14. Will I be able to contact the person/s I am sharing a cabin with before we cruise?
    If you wish to be contact with your cruise companion before paying deposit on your cruise holiday, a $50AUD per person fee applies. Provided the cruise booking is made through Companion Cruising this fee will come off the final balance of your cruise. Once your booking is paid in full and documentation has been sent and all parties agree, Companion Cruising can put you in touch with your cruising companion/s free of charge. 
  15. If my cruise companion cancels their cruise, what then happens to my cruise booking?
    If your companion happens to cancel their cruise booking our first step is to try to find you an alternative companion. If we are not successful in finding you areplacement companion to share a cabin with, your cruise fare will change to reflect the current cruise fare based on the new cabin configuration. If subsequently you then wish to cancel, the cancellation conditions included on your invoice will apply. 
  16. What if I need to cancel my booking?
    Please notify us in writing as soon as you need to cancel your cruise holiday. Cancellation conditions outlined on your invoice will apply. Please also note that changes made to your booking are often considered a cancellation. Please check with us should you have any queries.
  17. Will I need travel Insurance?
    Yes, at Companion Cruising we highly recommend Travel Insurance. Our preferred Travel Insurance company is CHI - underwrtten by Allianz. You can purchase Travel Insurance by clicking HERE
